In 2013 I was asked by artist Luke Cornish (ELK) to make a portrait of Uncle Jack Charles for an upcoming stencil painting of his. Luke and I became friends through having adjacent studios at Paradise Hills, an artist-run gallery/studio in Richmond, Narrm/Melbourne.
I was excited to work with Luke and this seemed like a wonderful opportunity. We were able to meet up with Uncle Jack in the backstreets of Collingwood where I made a series of portraits on my Mamiya RZ67. Luke went on to create a large-scale stencil painting ‘Uncle Jack’ which is now held in the Bond University Collection in Queensland.
